Courses for Aquatinta • Etching • Intaglio (VHS)
Available as two-day weekend or six-weeks workshops

The great artist Albrecht Dürer produced several masterpieces of etching. With the development of a suitable copper base, the line etching technique was perfected. None other than Rembrandt, the “magician of etching,” brought this discipline to perfection. New techniques were developed, such as aquatint etching, which reached its peak with Goya. To this day, these techniques of the great masters have lost none of their fascination. Once you have mastered the fine art of the various etching techniques, you will remain captivated by them.
Participants will be introduced to etching techniques and will have the opportunity to create their own image design using multi-stage aquatints and/or etching, drypoint, scraping, vernis mou, and printing, and hold it in their hands that very same weekend! Experimental work is also possible. Two presses up to 80 × 100 cm are available for printing. The practical work is accompanied by information on the history of etching and art appreciation. Please bring drawings or similar with you, if available.
Materials: Zinc plates, Etalon plates, and paper can be purchased as needed / Consumables (paint, thinner, etc.) are included in this invoice; tools are provided. Current prices are listed in the price sheet.
