Offers for children and students

Kindergarden and offers for 4 to 6 year-olds
  • Monotype
  • Relief Printing with Stereotypes

For the youngest participants, we offer short events (1.5 to 3 hours) in the morning. After a brief and age-appropriate explanation of the printing techniques, the children are guided through the artistic work. They can choose between monotype and relief printing with stereotypes. Groups of up to 12 children must be accompanied by at least one educator. Aprons are available in the studio.

DDR stereotype / clisché workshop (relief printing with watercolors)

  • 2 hours, from 5 years, max. 12 children per session, min. 1 additional supervising person/educator
  • 1 supervising person from us
  • 150 € net (plus VAT if no tax exemption applies)

The children arrive and receive a brief introduction to the world of printmaking. Using examples, we explain simply how printing and reproduction work without a computer. The children are shown the printing presses (with demonstration and hands-on experience). Afterwards, children and educators put on aprons (provided) and roll out colors. They can browse through our DDR stereotype collection and print as many small cards as they like on two printing presses. At the end, we can print a group image and, if desired, add the daycare’s name using letterpress type.

Monotype workshop (uniques with oil colors)

  • 2 hours + 1 hour for preparation and cleanup, from 4 years, max. 10 children per session, min. 1 additional supervising person/educator
  • 2 supervising persons from us
  • €300 net (plus VAT if no tax exemption applies)

The children arrive and receive a brief introduction to the world of printmaking. Using examples, we explain simply how printing and reproduction work without a computer. The children are shown the printing presses (with demonstration and hands-on experience). Then, children and educators put on aprons (provided) and sit around our large table. We prepare about 10 glass plates with a thin layer of oil paint; these can be used to create unique prints using various materials and tools. Additional layers of color can be added. Many prints are created in a short time. These need to dry for about five days before they can be picked up or delivered. If desired, we can take photos, edit them, and provide them.

Appointments upon request.

Children 6 years and older
  • Drypoint Etching
  • Linocut and Bookbinding
  • Monotype (Family and Children)

For children aged 6 and older, we offer subsidized workshops through Jugend im Museum. Registration and payment are handled via Jugend im Museum. The courses encourage experimentation, drawing skills, and observation, sharpen attention to detail, and provide access to art and printing techniques.

Printing without a computer – Drypoint etching

Develop your own image ideas and transfer them to paper. Then etch them onto printing plates and reproduce them using large printing presses. After a test print, you will create a small edition and experiment with printing inks.

Printing and binding small booklets

Participants create simple motifs using linocut or set individual words in letterpress. The printing is done on the covers of small booklets, which are bound at the end of the workshop. In a relatively short time, personal and unique sketch or notebook journals are created. With humor and simple language, children and teenagers are introduced to various analog printing techniques, tools, and antique machines of an artistic print shop. Working on a linocut helps overcome hesitation toward materials and tools and strengthens artistic freedom.

Printing uniques – A contradiction?

What are “unique prints” or monotypes? Paul Klee referred to this technique as oil color drawings. After a brief demonstration and some examples from art history, participants get hands-on experience. Rolling, scraping, and drawing into colored plates onto paper create fantastic textures and forms. Various printing techniques, tools, and machines of an artistic print shop are introduced.

One session per technique per semester. You can find dates in the Jugend im Museum course search using the keyword “Druckgraphik Atelier”.

Prices: €15 to €41
