DGA Faces #03 Christin Kosbab

In the course of the upcoming and new workshop format Lettering & Lithography workshop at the DGA we want to continue the series »DGA Faces«, in which we gradually introduce the artists working here.

So we would like to introduce you to designer and lettering expert Christin Kosbab.

Portrait of Christin Kosbab

Graphic designer and cookbook author from Hamburg with a passion for typography.

What fascinates you most about lettering and where do you prefer to use it?

What fascinates me about lettering is the variety of possibilities and the craft. It is the perfect balance for my otherwise digital work. In addition to the combination of the fonts, the right composition plays a decisive role in the final result. Thus, the process of writing suddenly becomes an image.

Where do you get your inspiration for motifs from? Can you recommend sources?

My inspiration is everyday life! I love to walk through the city with open eyes and collect different examples. In terms of content, I usually get inspired by songs that appeal to me.

Besides that, I deal a lot with the topic via social media and with books. An excellent example is »The Golden Secrets of Lettering« by Martina Flor.

Which lettering artists do you find particularly interesting?

Besides Martina Flor, Chris Campe (Instagram: allthingsletters), Tanja Hildebrand (Instagram: hi__tanja__) and last but not least my typography teacher Tobias David Albert (Instagram: tobiasdavidalbert).

In the series »DGA Faces« we gradually introduce the artists working here. In this way, we share the concentrated printing knowledge of the studio with you digitally too!
